CANCERWORLD?

Many people use "warrior" language when they get diagnosed with cancer. And if that works for you, use it!  However some of us feel as if a cancer diagnosis throws us into unfamiliar territory.  Where we don't know the landscape or the language.  So, on this site, we talk about traveling through cancerworld. And often, even if we have a caregiver with us, they can leave at the end of the day while we are still trapped in cancerworld.  This site is made to make your journey easier.  To, perhaps give you helpful hints and maybe humor.  While not a medical advice site, we will touch on medical topics. This site will continue to add content so keep coming back here until you escape cancerworld.

My Story

I am Tina Carter, a Ph.D. Chemist, Master of Divinity, ordained United Methodist Elder and human who spent multiple years in cancerworld. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. I have participated in two Phase 1 clinical trials. (In the first clinical trial I was the first human on the planet to get the drug.). In consultation with my husband and my therapist I made the decision to participate in clinical trials because I believe in science and our cooperative ability to make things better.  And, as immunotherapy was coming on the scene I was anxious to contribute what I could to the science.

To everyone's surprise, in 2023, 7 years after my diagnosis, I am still alive and currently am No Evidence of Disease (NED). This website (and the coming podcast) is meant to be a FREE resource for folks going through cancerworld. Just because every little help can bring hope.
